Museum De Reede, Antwerp, Belgium
June 19–October 19, 2026
Museum De Reede presents Neo Rauch: Balance, an exhibition of prints by Neo Rauch spanning 1988 to 2026. Five large oil paintings on paper serve as anchor points within the exhibition, linking graphic thinking with monumental painting. The prints reveal how his visual language articulates itself in various stages, from early works in which figures still appear to be in a phase of development, to later works in which the characteristic constellations have fully crystallised. The title Balance does not refer to harmony in the classical sense, but to a precarious tension. In Rauch’s work, balance is never static. Figures find themselves on fault lines, between action and stillness, between past and future, between order and disorder. All the graphic works in the exhibition have been loaned by the Grafikstiftung Neo Rauch in Aschersleben, the town where Rauch grew up.
