David Zwirner is pleased to present the gallery’s first solo exhibition with New York–based artist Louis Fratino (b. 1993) since the announcement of his representation earlier this year. Fratino creates paintings, drawings, and sculptures that depict intimate personal experiences, frequently centering contemporary queer life and the male body. In portraying all manner of subjects garnered from his immediate circles and through observation, he connects an exuberant palette of bold colors with an expressive figuration that cites his considered study of classical and modern Western art history and literature. For this exhibition, which features all new paintings, Fratino expands his thematic repertoire, approaching moments of public and private life with the propinquity that charges his views of the glorious and the everyday.

This presentation will be Fratino’s first solo exhibition in London, and follows the opening of Fratino and Matisse: To See This Light Again at the Baltimore Museum of Art, which places the two artists in dialogue and is on view through September 6, 2026. The FLAG Art Foundation presented Spotlight: Louis Fratino in New York in 2025. The year prior, the solo presentation Satura was held at Centro per l’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Prato, Italy. The artist’s work was also featured in the Central Pavilion at the 60th Venice Biennale, Foreigners Everywhere, in 2024.
