Arlene Shechet (b. 1951) has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Storm King Art Center in New Windsor, New York (2024), the Harvard Art Museums in Cambridge, Massachusetts (2022–2025), Madison Square Park in New York (2018), the Frick Collection in New York (2016), and the ICA Boston (2015). Shechet’s work is in over fifty public collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Centre Pompidou, Paris, the National Gallery of Art, DC, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Hirshhorn Museum, DC, the Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas, the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, and the Storm King Art Center, New York. Shechet was awarded a lifetime membership in the American Academy of Arts and Letters, as well as the College Art Association Artist Award, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant, and the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship.
