In his Yokosuka studio, south of Tokyo, Yu Nishimura paints what is there right in front of him: light, a face, an everyday landscape. Represented in France by Paris’s Galerie Crèvecoeur, the new darling of the contemporary-art scene plays with transparency, blurring, and formal simplicity to create spaces of sensory projection. With his silent, suspended images, Nishimura invites the viewer to slow down and readjust in the face of an ever-accelerating world.
