‘Bridget Riley’s rousing exhibition reminds us why she is one of Britain’s best artists’ by Alastair Sooke
November 2025
Bridget Riley, the venerable abstract painter, may be 94 years old, but, artistically, she shows no signs of slowing down. Her crisp mini-retrospective Turner Contemporary in Margate contains six new paintings, each as rigorous as ever. Unlike some senior artists, whose “late style” betrays wobbliness (the consequence of failing eyesight, say, or a shaky hand) Riley retains absolute authority.
