“When we sleep, where do we really go?”
In this video, Portia Zvavahera speaks from her studio in Harare, Zimbabwe about the dreams and nightmares that inspired her newest paintings. These works are on view at David Zwirner London in the artist’s first solo presentation in Europe. The exhibition’s title, Ndakavata pasi ndikamutswa nekuti anonditsigira, translates from Shona to English as “I took my rest in sleep and then I awoke for He sustained me.”
