We love our independent bookstores. They share their knowledge and offer titles you might not otherwise find. They are essential to culture and community, but like many independent shops and restaurants during the pandemic, they are calling for our help. While more people are buying books in the current moment, many have taken their business to large online retailers. So this holiday season, we are off to our local bookstores for gifts—be it through their online platforms or in a socially distanced queue. To help you find the one closest to you, here are a few of our favorites to support.

Founded in 1984, Arcana: Books on the Arts specializes in new, rare, and out of print books, catalogues, and ephemera on 20th and 21st Century Art, Photography, Design, and more.

Revolution Books is a radical indie bookstore with a selection of global books and DVDs, as well as regular events.

Located in downtown Las Vegas, The Writer’s Block includes a book shop, coffee shop, young writers’ workshop, and artificial bird sanctuary.

Open since 1980, Unabridged Bookstore features a wide variety of general and children's literature plus LGBT titles.

Underground Books is a nonprofit established in 2003 to ensure the community would have access to books after the closure of the local library.

Centering on Black, PoC, and Queer voices, Loyalty Books aims to diversify the publishing industry.
