Introducing a new series of works by the artist
July 2, 2020
This edition of Studio introduces a new series of works by Kerry James Marshall that references John James Audubon’s nineteenth-century magnum opus, The Birds of America. Featuring a video conversation with the artist and scenes from his studio, this online-only presentation of two new paintings furthers Marshall’s ongoing revision of the role of the Black figure in the Western art-historical canon.
