Marcel Dzama has created a new work, in response and opposition to the violence of President Trump’s photo op in front of St. John’s Church in Washington, D.C., when peaceful protesters were cleared from Lafayette Square with smoke and flash grenades, a chemical agent, and other uses of force so the President could pose in front of St. John’s holding a Bible—moments after telling reporters he would deploy the military if state officials could not contain protests across the nation.  All proceeds from the sale of this work will benefit the National Bail Out, a Black-led and Black-centered collective of abolitionist organizers, lawyers, and activists. Their network of over sixty community bail and bond funds across the country free people from jail and immigration detention and fight to abolish the money bail system and pretrial detention.
