With physical galleries and museums temporarily closed during these uncertain times, the art community has increasingly turned to digital spaces to share the work of artists, and to engage passionate audiences all over the world.

We are proud to host 

, a new online initiative that brings together twelve New York–based galleries—our friends, neighbors, and peers—to present available works from a single artist on their rosters.

With physical exhibition spaces closed to the public, auction houses inactive, and art fairs canceled, 

 is pleased to debut two new digital products—

—for museums and collectors to discover, buy, and sell primary- and secondary-market artworks.

“For years, David Zwirner Gallery has been a regular at more than 20 art fairs around the globe—that is, until the current global health situation put these events, and nearly everything else in the art world, on lockdown. Now, the gallery is developing a new program to promote artworks that it might otherwise show at fairs on its own website.

As part of its ongoing efforts to beef up its digital offerings, the gallery is rolling out two initiatives in the middle of April. The first, called 

, will showcase a rotating presentation of one to three brand-new works by artists the gallery represents.

The second initiative, 

, focuses on the secondary market. Designed to present one major work at a time, it will kick off with a Josef Albers “Homage to the Square” painting from 1959, consigned from the collection of Theodore and Barbara Dreier, the founders of the legendary Black Mountain College, where Albers taught.

, which will be accessible to anyone who agrees to submit their email address, 

 will exclusively be available to existing gallery clients on an invitation-only basis. Prices will also only be relayed upon request.

Both initiatives in large part aim to make up for the fact that the lockdown era has interrupted a critical part of the art-market supply chain. Under normal circumstances, one-off or small groups of works that do not comprise a full exhibition would be showcased at an art fair. And even though the art industry’s traveling circus has been put on pause, artists are still creating work—in fact, some more than ever, as they are cloistered at home and in their studios—and consignors are still looking for places to sell high-priced works (particularly since most of the major auction houses have delayed their marquee spring sales to June).’’

A Viewing Room Featuring New York Galleries

, a viewing room featuring London-based galleries, hosted on David Zwirner Online. 

 is an initiative that invites friends, peers, and colleagues from galleries around the world to present a focused presentation of works by a single artist.

“Helping out some of the industry’s smaller players is David Zwirner gallery, which began its support of 12 other New York dealers by hosting them on its website this week…,” announced the Financial Times on April 9. “Next up are another dozen galleries from London—revealed as Arcadia Missa, Carlos/Ishikawa, Emalin, Herald St, Hollybush Gardens, Kate MacGarry, mother’s tankstation, Sid Motion Gallery, Soft Opening, Southard Reid, The Approach and The Sunday Painter. Like their transatlantic counterparts, each will show one artist on Platform: London (April 17-May 15).’’

The participants in 

 represent a cross section of colleagues, friends, and peers in the city’s gallery community: The Approach, Arcadia Missa, Carlos/Ishikawa, Emalin, Herald St, Hollybush Gardens, Kate MacGarry, mother’s tankstation, Sid Motion Gallery, Soft Opening, Southard Reid, and The Sunday Painter. Each gallery will feature a focused presentation of works by a single artist. In some cases, galleries are presenting artists who were intended to be featured in spring exhibitions or whose shows were cut short by last month’s closures.

Platform: London Announced

 presents a series of concrete works derived from the vernacular structures of swimming pools.

Offering Ancart a means to explore endless possibilities of form and color, this series—which shares the surface materiality and strong palette of his paintings—also draws on a wide range of art-historical, architectural, and everyday influences, from Josef Albers to holiday resorts.
