Art Basel

David Zwirner is pleased to participate in Art Basel for the twenty-first consecutive year. Highlights at the booth will include new paintings by Luc Tuymans, whose retrospective Luc Tuymans: La Pelle runs through January 2020 at the Palazzo Grassi, Venice; Njideka Akunyili Crosby, whose work is featured in this year’s Venice Biennale; and Oscar Murillo, who was just nominated for the Turner Prize 2019. The booth will also include new work by Tomma Abts, Mamma Andersson, Lucas Arruda, Michaël Borremans, Toba Khedoori, Kerry James Marshall, and Lisa Yuskavage, alongside outstanding examples of work by Josef Albers, Donald Judd, Bruce Nauman, Sigmar Polke, and Gerhard Richter.

Among the featured works at the fair will be those by artists whose estates have recently joined the gallery. Included will be a selection of late works by Paul Klee, in addition to selected photographs by Diane Arbus as well as by Roy DeCarava.

For this year’s edition of Unlimited, David Zwirner will present significant works by three gallery artists: the complete set of puzzles from 1987 to 1992 by Felix Gonzalez-Torres, which constitutes the first time all fifty-five of these important works will be shown together; Kerry James Marshall’s RYTHM MASTR Daily Strip (Runners), 2018 from the ongoing series that was featured at the 2018 Carnegie International; and a major interactive installation of sofas clad in colorful fabrics by Franz West that hasn’t been shown since it debuted at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, in 1994.

To complement the presentation in Basel, David Zwirner is pleased to announce the launch of Basel Online, an Online Viewing Room that functions as a parallel presentation of fair-caliber works. Available only online, starting June 10, the presentation will feature unique works by artists including Francis Alÿs, Harold Ancart, Carol Bove, Philip-Lorca diCorcia, Isa Genzken, Yayoi Kusama, Kerry James Marshall, Chris Ofili, Luc Tuymans, Jordan Wolfson, and Lisa Yuskavage, as well as significant historical works by Ruth Asawa, Dan Flavin, and Donald Judd.
