Frieze New York 2017

David Zwirner is pleased to present works by Carol Bove (/artists/carol-bove) and William Eggleston (/artists/william-eggleston) for the gallery's sixth consecutive participation in Frieze New York (https://www.frieze.com/fairs/frieze-new-york). Since the fair’s inauguration in 2012—when the gallery exhibited a selection of Minimalist artists, including Dan Flavin, Donald Judd, John McCracken, Fred Sandback, and Sol LeWitt—David Zwirner has focused on solo and two-artist presentations. In 2013, a solo presentation of Thomas Ruff spanned works from 1980 to 1984. Dual presentations in subsequent years were Donald Judd and Yayoi Kusama (2014), John McCracken and Franz West (2015), and Isa Genzken and Lisa Yuskavage (2016).

Carol Bove (/artists/carol-bove) is known for making sculptures that combine both found and made elements. New examples were shown in the recent solo exhibition Polka Dots (/exhibitions/2016/polka-dots), her first at the New York gallery, following The Plastic Unit (/exhibitions/2015/plastic-unit), a 2015 exhibition at David Zwirner in London. She has been chosen to represent Switzerland in the 2017 Venice Biennale (http://www.labiennale.org/en/Home.html).

In 2016, David Zwirner announced the exclusive worldwide representation of William Eggleston (/artists/william-eggleston). The Democratic Forest (/exhibitions/2016/democratic-forest), his first show at the gallery the same year, presented photographs selected from thousands taken on the artist's travels through America and Europe during the 1980s. His work is currently the subject of two solo museum exhibitions, Los Alamos (https://www.foam.org/museum/programme/william-eggleston) at FOAM Museum in Amsterdam and William Eggleston: Portraits (http://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/exhibition/william-eggleston/) at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, which traveled to Australia from the National Portrait Gallery in London.

Judd Foundation (http://juddfoundation.org/), which has been represented by David Zwirner since 2010, will be a part of Frieze New York for the first time. Curated by Flavin Judd, the booth (B39) will feature original preparatory drawings from the Judd Foundation Archives in Marfa, Texas, along with select furniture designs and publications, including the recently released Donald Judd Writings (https://davidzwirnerbooks.com/product/donald-judd-writings) (co-published by Judd Foundation and David Zwirner Books (https://davidzwirnerbooks.com)).
