Plan your Visit: Yayoi Kusama, Festival of Life

Due to the high volume of visitors expected for Yayoi Kusama, Festival of Life, the gallery has put together a list of practical FAQs to help plan your visit.

What are the days and times the exhibition is open?

The exhibition is open November 3 – December 16, 2017.
Our gallery hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 10AM – 6PM.


Can I purchase tickets in advance?

The exhibition is free of charge and open to the public. No tickets are required for entry, and it is not possible to reserve in advance.


Are there time slots to see the exhibition?

There are no scheduled time slots to see the exhibition.


Is there a way to know in advance about wait times?

We anticipate a wait time of 2 – 4 hours to enter into the exhibition. Please note that the line will be outside the gallery. If the wait time exceeds 2 hours, we will post an update with the estimated wait time on our @davidzwirner Twitter and Instagram Stories.

Visitors who wish to view only the My Eternal Soul paintings at 533 West 19th Street and the Infinity Nets paintings in the uptown gallery at 34 East 69th Street do not need to join the line for the Infinity Mirror Rooms.


Will the line to enter into the exhibition be cut off at any point during the day?

The gallery closes at 6PM sharp, therefore the exhibition line will be cut off earlier in the day if the wait time exceeds gallery operating hours. When wait times are 4 hours or longer, the line closures may occur as early as 2PM. Please consult our @davidzwirner Twitter and Instagram Stories for the latest daily updates.


Can I bring a group to see the exhibition?

Unfortunately, due to limited capacity and time constraints for this exhibition, we are unable to accommodate group visits or tours during public opening hours.


I am a member of the press, can I skip the line?

Accredited press should contact in advance.


Is the exhibition child-friendly?

Yes, the exhibition is appropriate for all ages. Please be advised that the line is long and waiting times are significant.


Is photography allowed in the exhibition?

Flash photography, video cameras, tripods, and selfie sticks are strictly prohibited. Visitors may take photographs without flash.


Can I bring bags into the exhibition?

Large bags over 20 inches in length, backpacks, bulky items, food, and drinks are not allowed in the exhibition.


Are dogs allowed?

Only service dogs will be allowed in the exhibition.


How much time will I have in each Infinity Mirrored Room?

Each group of people will be allowed to spend 1 minute inside INFINITY MIRRORED ROOM - LET'S SURVIVE FOREVER.
Each person will be allowed 30 seconds inside LONGING FOR ETERNITY.
There is no definitive time limit for With All My Love For The Tulips, I Pray Forever, but if the number of people reaches 10, then visitors will be asked to move along.


How many people can be in each Infinity Mirrored Room at a time?

The maximum capacity for INFINITY MIRRORED ROOM - LET'S SURVIVE FOREVER is 4 – 6 people.
The maximum capacity for LONGING FOR ETERNITY is 3 people (there are 3 viewing holes).
The maximum capacity for With All My Love For The Tulips, I Pray Forever is 6 – 10 people.  


Why do I need to wear disposable covers on my shoes?

Visitors who enter LONGING FOR ETERNITY, followed by With All My Love For The Tulips, I Pray Forever will need to wear disposable covers over their shoes to help protect the artwork. These covers will be provided by the gallery.


Are strollers permitted inside the exhibition and the Infinity Mirror Rooms?

Strollers are permitted inside the exhibition. Please note only standard-size strollers are permitted inside each Infinity Mirrored Room.


Are the Infinity Mirrored Rooms wheelchair accessible?

Yes, there is space for one standard wheelchair at a time to enter and exit each Infinity Mirrored Room.
Please note that while the entrances to both LONGING FOR ETERNITY and With All My Love For The Tulips, I Pray Forever are flush with the floor, the entrance into INFINITY MIRRORED ROOM - LET'S SURVIVE FOREVER has a 2 inch elevation to enter the room.


Are there public restrooms?

The gallery does not have public restrooms. The closest public restrooms are located on the High Line at West 16th Street or inside Chelsea Market at 15th Street.


Is there a gift shop?

Our David Zwirner Books pop-up bookstore located at 535 West 20th Street will be open every Saturday from 10AM – 6PM. Kusama books and merchandise will be for sale in the bookstore.


Is there a catalogue for the exhibition?

An exhibition catalogue is forthcoming from David Zwirner Books and will include new scholarship by Jenni Sorkin.
