This Is Not a Prop at David Zwirner New York
June 27 – August 3

David Zwirner is pleased to present the exhibition This Is Not a Prop, from June 27 through August 3 at the gallery’s 525 and 533 West 19th Street locations in New York. The exhibition will include work by Jonathas de Andrade, Alex Da Corte, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Jonah Groeneboer, Gordon Hall, Hannah Levy, Paul Mpagi Sepuya, Paulo Nazareth, Elle Pérez, Oren Pinhassi, Christina Quarles, and Franz West.

This Is Not a Prop brings together a multigenerational group of artists whose work explores the liminal space between body and object. Taking Franz West’s furniture and Passstücke (Adaptives) as a point of departure, the show features artists whose work negotiates the intersection of private and public space, exploring the ways in which objects organize social experience. Both a declaration and rejection of objecthood, This Is Not a Prop proposes a dialogue about identity, authority, and physicality.

This Is Not a Prop is curated by Alec Smyth and Cristina Vere Nicoll.
