"Listening to Threads With Anni Albers"

Vanity Fair, review by Grace Edquist

"Her [Anni Albers's] weavings and screen prints, though often geometric, can evoke unexpected emotion. The sharp edges of interlocking lines, rectangles, and triangles are moving, not jarring. Her expert use of color is on full display in this show, ranging from bright and primary to rusty and muted. A few intimate photographs of Albers, taken by her husband, the abstract painter Josef Albers, add a welcome personal element to the show. The exhibition is poignant in its unassuming presentation, in the tangible quality of the fabrics you so badly wish you could touch."
