52 Walker is pleased to announce its fifth exhibition, which will feature new work by Canadian-born, New York–based artist Tau Lewis. Employing assemblage, handicraft, and various sculptural techniques, Lewis creates colorful, totemic forms that both suggest mythical worlds beyond our own and appear as recurring figures throughout her work. At the gallery, the artist will present her signature colossal masks created from recycled textiles and other found materials in a polygonal installation that functions as a set for a play written by Lewis and engaging these linked characters.

Lewis was recently included in the 2022 Venice Biennale exhibition The Milk of Dreams, curated by Cecilia Alemani.
