For the past decade, Francis Alÿs has chased tornados in the highlands south of Mexico City in order to create one of his most recent video works, Tornado (2000-2010). Full of scrapbook and ephemera appeal, this unique publication commemorates the in-depth project, a highlight of the 29th São Paulo Biennial, and compiles the artist’s related notes, drawings, paintings, press clippings, and writings. With texts published in English and Portuguese, it includes selections by mathematician Ton Marar, art historian Cuauhtémoc Medina, and essayist Alfonso Reyes.
