Adel Abdessemed: Dead or Alive

Adel Abdessemed: Dead or Alive marked the artist’s first New York solo exhibition and showcased his video and sculptural works. The accompanying exhibition catalogue begins with an introduction by then director Alanna Heiss who aptly defines Abdessemed’s practice as “one that weds violence, destruction, and anxiety with formal elegance and biting wit.” The catalogue additionally provides a comprehensive overview of the exhibition through installation photographs and an essay by P.S.1 curatorial advisor Neville Wakefield.
