Tomma Abts
This exhibition will include 15 to 20 paintings made over the last ten years by Tomma Abts, recipient of the 2006 Turner Prize, who is known for precise, colorful, abstract paintings that are all the same size. Born in Kiel, Germany in 1967, Abts lives and works in London. She has had solo exhibitions at Kunsthalle Basel, Switzerland; Douglas Hyde Gallery, Dublin; and Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (with Vincent Fecteau); and has been included in major international exhibitions including the 54th Carnegie International, the 4th Berlin Biennale, and the 2006 Shanghai Biennale. This will be her first solo museum exhibition in the United States.

The exhibition is organized by curator Laura Hoptman for the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York. The Hammer Museum presentation may also include a supplementary group/installation of drawings not presented at the New Museum.
