May 17 - May 20, 2012DAVID ZWIRNER AT ART HK 12
HONG KONG INTERNATIONAL ART FAIR
May 17-20, 2012
Artists in attendance:
Luc Tuymans and Yan Pei-Ming
David Zwirner is pleased to participate in this year’s ART HK (booth 3A07), the gallery’s second consecutive year at the fair.
David Zwirner will be showing a range of work, with a concentration on painting. The booth will feature new works from 2012 by Daniel Richter (Monday Morning), Luc Tuymans (Peaches and William S.), and Yan Pei-Ming (Lady Gaga), made especially for the fair. Other paintings by gallery artists include Michaël Borremans (Girl with Duck, 2011), Marlene Dumas (Untitled (The Stand In), 1991), and Lisa Yuskavage (Pond, 2007).
Both Luc Tuymans and Yan Pei-Ming will be in attendance at the fair. David Zwirner’s new gallery in London’s Mayfair neighborhood will open in October with an exhibition by Tuymans; and recent works by Yan Pei-Ming, Black Paintings, are currently on view in the New York gallery until June 23.
Also presented at ART HK will be recent works from 2012 by Carol Bove, an artist the gallery started representing last year and who is known for her simple yet intricate assemblages of found and made objects. On view will be Lucifer, an acrylic on linen painting executed by arranging a silver chain net on a canvas and spraying layers of paint across the surface, to create an “imprint,” and Untitled, a work made of iridescent and vibrant peacock feathers arranged on a canvas. Also featured is a work of five small-scale steel maps by Adel Abdessemed; drawings by Marcel Dzama, who is currently the subject of a major solo exhibition at Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga in Spain; a stainless steel “plank” by John McCracken; a selection of silkscreens on linen from Michael Riedel’s recent “poster paintings” series; and photographs by Thomas Ruff, James Welling, and Philip-Lorca diCorcia, who has recently been named one of Martell’s 2012 Artists of the Year. The award will presented on June 26, 2012, and will be accompanied by a touring exhibition in China.
