Luc Tuymans
Edited by Emma Dexter and Julian Heynen. Texts by Emma Dexter and Jesús Fuenmayor. Interview with the artist by Julian Heynen
Published to accompany the major 2004 retrospective at Tate Modern in London, which then traveled to K21 in Düsseldorf, Germany, this catalogue was the most up-to-date survey on Luc Tuymans at the time and included are works from 1988 to 2003. From the director’s foreword by Vincente Todolí:
“Tuymans talks for the first time about the role of exhibition-making in a lucid interview published in this catalogue conducted with our collaborator and co-curator of the exhibition, Julian Heynen. Neither chronologically nor thematically installed, the exhibition uses interplay of forms and content to articulate how history is perceived in relation to contemporary experience.”
