This high-definition video projected on a screen tells a recombinant story of murder and mendacity in the mid-19th century or, rather, it tells stories within stories because there are five levels of narration that interrupt one another. Segues between points of view are made by means of ambiguous cuts from the look of a character and the object of another look in a flash back. Accounts of the Deputy’s murder, and even conversations between characters, are highly contradictory. The only certainty is that a man is dead.
